According to The Daily Telegraph, Jose Cardinal Policarpo, the Cardinal Patriarch of Lisbon, Portugal, has warned Roman Catholic women thinking about marrying Muslim men, to think twice before doing so. He states that the only truth Muslim men are interested in hearing is their own, and that "dialogue (with them) is extremely difficult."
He also brought to attention the nasty treatment that the non-Muslim wives receive when they are taken by their Muslim husbands into Muslim countries. Many of these wives never return to their native country, because once they are in Muslim lands they are considered chattel and have no rights of their own. They cannot travel freely or do anything else without their husband's permission. Life becomes an unthinkable nightmare.

Well, that's what Vatican II can do to us. Way back in the pre-Vatican II days, we Catholics were taught to think twice about marrying even a Protestant (and then to forget about it, unless he/she at least agreed to raise your progeny in the Catholic faith, or else go get married by a Justice of the Peace, in which case you weren't married in the eyes of God.)
Not that I think the old rule was bad, but I would add to the Cardinal's modern "think twice" advice the categories of "Scientologist," "atheist," "bisexual," "politician," "liberal," "pro-choicer," and "SUV owner." (No theological bent here, just MHO.)
