No Dogs Allowed (Or Cats Either) In Saudi Arabia


The story from Breitbart, who got it from AFP:

[Saudi Arabia's religious police have announced a ban on selling cats and dogs as pets, or walking them in public in the Saudi capital, because of men using them as a means of making passes at women, an official said on Wednesday.

Othman al-Othman, head of the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice in Riyadh, known as the Muttawa, told the Saudi edition of al-Hayat daily that the commission has started enforcing an old religious edict.

He said the commission was implementing a decision taken a month ago by the acting governor of the capital, Prince Sattam bin Abdul Aziz, adding that it follows an old edict issued by the supreme council of Saudi scholars.

The reason behind reinforcing the edict now was a rising fashion among some men using pets in public "to make passes on women and disturb families," he said, without giving more details.

Othman said that the commission has instructed its offices in the capital to tell pet shops "to stop selling cats and dogs".

The 5,000-strong religious police oversees the adherence to Wahabism -- a strict version of Sunni Islam, which also forces women to cover from head to toe when in public, and bans them from driving.]

I'd laugh if it weren't so sad. It kind of brings to mind a quote from the movie Lawrence of Arabia. I think Omar Sharif's character was being scolded by Lawrence, played by Peter O'Toole: "...so long will (Arabs) be a little people,...a silly people,..greedy, barbarous and cruel!" It might not be an exact quote, and either way not one that I used to assume was true in this day and age. But the people of our "ally," Saudi Arabia, as well as others in that part of the world, seem to be trying very hard to live down to that description. Even today after all that has happened since 9-11, I would have assumed that story came from The Onion rather than AFP.

Obama "Stood Up" Wounded Troops For A Workout At Hotel


According to the Washington Post, Obama said the following on the plane bound for Berlin:

"You know I really get a kick out of spending time with the troops. Their morale is high, but they really appreciate acknowledgement of what they're doing," .

In addition to his speech at the Brandenburg Gate, Obama was scheduled to visit wounded troops recuperating at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center, but blew it off when it was realized a campaign staffer would not be allowed to attend. Obama could have gone anyway, but decided to stay at his hotel (The Ritz Carlton) and work out. What a guy!

If Obama is going to be Commander-In-Chief, he had better get his priorities straight. First he refuses to debate McCain at a townhall meeting in front of military personnel and now this. It is becoming clear that Obama wishes to spend as little time as possible in front of military people for fear someone might actually ask a pressing question, like why did you vote against funding us and want to pull us out before the job was done? And why won't you admit to the mistake?

Don't expect the MSM to pick up on this. The following exchange was reported by ABC News, surprisingly:

A reporter noted that the campaign has been distributing fliers to Berliners to drum up attendance.

"Why don't you guys go out and distribute some fliers?" Obama asked. "Is that a conflict for you guys?"

Joked a cable news correspondent: "We have been. It's called television."

They know they're in the tank for Obama if they admit it to each other, even jokingly.

China Swallowing Africa Whole With Increased Speed


According to Mail Online (part of The Daily Mail), China is colonizing Africa at an alarming rate, influencing governments, supplying vast supplies of arms, and even fixing their own overpopulation problem by sending Chinese citizens to Africa to live---750,000 in the last 10 years! And where was our beloved Main Stream Media? Until recently, for the most part probably blaming Bush for something, or following Britney Spears and Paris Hilton around town and reporting their antics. Sometimes the best articles are in the foreign press. But so far as I can tell, domestically, only the Washington Post and the Heritage Foundation have picked up on this (and Laura Ingraham).

China loves doing business on the African continent for its cheap slave labor and the lack of health and safety rules protecting consumers from dangerous lead-laced products. In return China avails itself to a vast array of raw materials like oil (China gets a third of theirs from Africa), steel, copper, platinum, gold, etc... China's business relationship with Africa has gone from $10 million a decade ago to over $12 billion today.

Politically, China is spreading its wealth around the continent to keep certain China-friendly governments in power. The Congo and Nigeria have seen $billions in recent years of gifts and loans, and President Mugabe owes much to China for helping him keep a strangle-hold on his people, along with $10 billion.

From Nigeria in the north, to Equatorial Guinea, Gabon and Angola in the west, across Chad and Sudan in the east, and south through Zambia, Zimbabwe and Mozambique, China has seized a vice-like grip on a continent which officials have decided is crucial to the superpower's long-term survival.

'The Chinese are all over the place,' says Trevor Ncube, a prominent African businessman with publishing interests around the continent. 'If the British were our masters yesterday, the Chinese have taken their place.'

Likened to one race deciding to adopt a new home on another planet, Beijing has launched its so-called 'One China In Africa' policy because of crippling pressure on its own natural resources in a country where the population has almost trebled from 500 million to 1.3 billion in 50 years.]

Archbishop Cuts Down Christianity To Please Muslims


You might remember back in February when the Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr. Rowan Williams, suggested that Great Britain adopt sharia law to please (appease) the British Muslim population. It caused quite a stir. Shortly after, of course, he modified his statements and apologized for his "unclarity" and clumsy choice of words, and stated that he was only in favor of it "if - and please note that word - this were thought to be a useful direction in which to move."

Well, he made the papers again (Daily Mail), this time stating that Christian doctrine is offensive to Muslims in a conciliatory letter he wrote to Islamic leaders. In the letter he noted the Christian history of "violence, its use of harsh punishments and its betrayal of its peaceful principles." These are all things that Islamic leaders preach about Christianity to their own followers everyday, so they were no doubt pleased to hear this validation from a Christian leader. He went on to say that " faiths which reject the use of violence should learn to defend each other in their mutual interest." Who does this guy think he's writing to?!?

The naivete of this Archbishop knows no bounds. But then that has always been a common element shared by the liberal-minded. Like the Archbishop...and even Barack Hussein Obama, they claim to want to reach out and communicate for the sake of peace with those who publicly state their desire to destroy us. But I suspect it is FEAR which motivates the appeaser, resulting in a self-imposed naivete---> shoving one's head in the sand to avoid seeing the obvious danger signals in front of you, lest you should have to defend yourself.

The Islamic leaders are no doubt thrilled. For they count on appeasers like Williams to buckle in fear at Islamic bullying to the point where the appeaser is willing to compromise his own core beliefs and betray even God with a pluralistic viewpoint just to live on Earth without pain ------>COWARDICE!!!... or as Churchill once said, "...like feeding a crocodile in hopes he eats you last."

It is past time either for this Archbishop to step down, or for the more reasonable and Christ-centered of the Anglican Church to break away from a church which promotes appeasement to Islam and acceptance of homosexual behavior among the "faithful."

And that Iraq should be an exception. Well, we ought to take Iraq's oil from them for the price of our blood and then let all the Middle Eastern nations, Iraq included, go out of business and once again become the poor, backward fiefdoms they continue to act like.

Obama Spinning His Wheels


Barack Obama seems to be all over the place these days, and doing it not all that gracefully. While McCain has altered positions on issues whose circumstances have changed (many call this a healthy flexibility) like off-shore drilling, Obama has made major position changes on issues for either no apparent reason or to correct foolish statements betraying his own glaring inexperience, ie., Iran is a small country and therefore no threat vs. Iran is a grave threat. He has been doing this for over a month now since becoming the Democrat nominee aparent, but have the potential voters noticed?

There are a couple of schools of thought on this. Since Obama is still holding a modest lead in polls over McCain, though at times recently they have been literally tied, at first glance it appears voters still favor him over the Republican. But there are two articles that require attention. One is from Dick Morris which appears in Real Clear Politics, in which he reminds us of Obama's more notable flip-flops:

[• After vowing to eschew private fundraising and take public financing, he has now refused public money.

• Once he threatened to filibuster a bill to protect telephone companies from liability for their cooperation with national security wiretaps; now he has voted for the legislation. (My bold)

• Turning his back on a lifetime of support for gun control, he now recognizes a Second Amendment right to bear arms in the wake of the Supreme Court decision.

• Formerly, he told the Israeli lobby that he favored an undivided Jerusalem. Now he says he didn't mean it.

• From a 100 percent pro-choice position, he now has migrated to expressing doubts about allowing partial-birth abortions.

• For the first time, he now speaks highly of using church-based institutions to deliver public services to the poor.

• Having based his entire campaign on withdrawal from Iraq, he now pledges to consult with the military first.

• During the primary, he backed merit pay for teachers -- but before the union a few weeks ago, he opposed it.

• After specifically saying in the primaries that he disagreed with Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton's (D-N.Y.) proposal to impose Social Security taxes on income over $200,000 and wanted to tax all income, he has now adopted the Clinton position.]

Morris reasons that liberals who feel disallusioned with Obama's tactics may cross over to McCain. My own view is that buyer's remorse could rear its ugly head sooner at the Democratic convention. And why not?

The other article of note can be found in of all places, The Huffington Post (or Puff Ho for you Pam fans--that still makes me laugh!) written by Thomas Edsall, in which he states that with all the problems we face today with the economy, the Democrat nominee should be running away with the lead. But he isn't. Instead we have two lackluster candidates, both of whom have failed to take advantage of the blunders of the other. Pundits from both sides are critical of both candidates and reason that what they do in the fall will determine the winner in November.

John McCain seems all too happy with being the underdog at this point, as he has repeatedly stated. At first I considered this a rationalization for his lagging in the polls. Now I believe it is some sort of strategy of his. After recovering in the primary race in an astounding turn-around, maybe we shouldn't second-guess him. But it sure seems like he should be doing more to electrify his base, which hasn't been all that excited thus far, or has grudgingly embraced him at best.

Spiritual Prayer Journey And Evolution Of A Christian Layman


First I prayed mostly for myself—for God to give me things, ie., new job or career. Then I prayed for others, usually people I knew. This list got too numerous and my prayers too long-winded, so then I made general prayers for world peace. Then I prayed for my enemies (Luke 6:27-28) because Jesus said that’s where the glory lies. I noticed doing that made it easier for me to forgive them for their transgressions against me.

Then I exchanged my self indulgent laundry list for generalized prayers for strength to deal with all things negative as well as an appreciation for all things good. I would also pray for strength to stop sinning so much and even pray to be closer to God.

Then I re-read Matthew and kept my prayer simple and short (The Lord’s Prayer—see Matthew 6:9-13) because God already knows what I need. And I concentrated on forgiving others who wronged me so that God would in turn forgive me my residual bad behavior. To this day I feel this is an important conditional contract that many people unfortunately downplay. See Matthew 6:14,15 and 18:21-35.

Still I evolved. I came to realize that receiving God’s strength comes from being close to God. And closeness comes from immersing oneself in The Word of God, from fellowship with like-minded believers, from eliminating idols from our lives, and talking about God with others (evangelizing). An ongoing conversation with God (in lieu of and/or in addition to kneeled prayer) throughout my daily life also helps me in my continued walk with Christ by keeping God close through an unbroken line of communication. Memorizing relevant Bible verses also helps by keeping the message on the tip of my brain for quick recall should I find myself surrounded by temptation. I have several favorites: Isaiah 40:31, 41:10; Romans 12:2, etc…

So with all this I put on the armor of God (Ephesians 6:10-20) and enter the fallen world a stronger man, ready for most of the coming onslaught. And in resisting temptation I set an example for others so they will see God's Grace in me and the Glory of the Spirit of the Lord. And through my example they will seek what I have found and start their own spiritual journey.

By no means has my journey been completed, but I am confident it will continue, as I am sure I've gone well beyond the point of no return.

Saddam Had 550 Metric Tons Of Yellowcake


The AP is reporting a story that they're treating nonchalantly from top to bottom, but one that I find astounding for all the information we didn't know.

Please allow me to clarify: 550 metric tons of yellowcake, enough to build 142 nuclear weapons.
This material in that quantity was found near Bagdad...in Iraq. It was recently moved secretly to a company in Canada, which purchased the yellowcake for several million dollars. It had been part of Saddam Hussein's nuclear program, you know...the one the MSM told us didn't exist. For it was widely thought that when Israel bombed the Tuwaitha nuclear facility, Hussein's nuclear program ended. Well, he still had all that yellowcake which he had stored in "aging drums" until UN inspectors "safeguarded" it.

Now pardon me for jumping to conclusions here, but doesn't that make the Joe Wilson accusation about no imported yellowcake from Niger in Africa irrelevant? When you have 550 metric tons already in your possession that wasn't destroyed by Israel in a bombing attack, do you really need more of it in order to cause mischief...or an act of revenge??? The AP report takes comfort in pointing out that there was no new yellowcake in Iraq after 1991. Well, the AP can take whatever comfort it can when a plate of crow sits on its dinner table.

President Bush and the rest of us who backed him in this venture can take comfort in the fact that this has indeed been a just war, however lengthy or botched at times.

American Patriot Jesse Helms Passes Away


Former North Carolina Senator and patriot, Jesse Helms passed away early this morning of natural causes at age 86. How fitting it is that he would die on July 4th, of all days, just like John Adams and Thomas Jefferson.

A polarizing figure but a decent and very polite man, is how many of his colleagues have described him. "Senator No" was his nickname among mostly Democrats, but he fought on the right side of issues like abortion, downsizing government, gun control, and others that we still fight over today.

Like Ronald Reagan he was once a Democrat, but switched parties when his political philosophy was no longer welcome among members of the old party. A staunch ally of Reagan and all things conservative, former Senator Jesse Helms will be missed.

Have you ever taken the time to actually read this? Most of us have been told what's in it by others, but few actually take the time to see for themselves what's being said--even in government class! And this foments a tendency to make false assumptions as to its contents.

FOF Analyzes Obama's Views On Religion







Kim Trobe discusses in three parts a recent Obama address on religion with Focus On The Family Action's Tom Minnery. This is very important in light of the recent push by Obama to court evangelicals by taking advantage of the vacuum created by a seemingly disinterested John McCain. One of these days SCOTUS is going to hear a case which challenges Roe vs. Wade and overturn that bad piece of judicial legislation, which was the product of that increasingly imposing despotism known as rule by judicial fiat (the liberals' way of imposing their religiously social beliefs upon the rest of us).

This video is more than a year and a half old and there is no particular occasion to justify posting it, except for the continuing slaughter of the unborn due to the continued state of denial by the left that fetuses are humans even though they consistently grow into larger humans when allowed to do so. These denying liberals bury their heads in the sand on abortion and the war on terror while thinking their buried heads are great thermometers that sense an increase in the temperature of the Earth.

Just feeling a little frustrated today. I've missed posting on a lot of stories due to my internet technical difficulties. The most frustrating had to be the SCOTUS decision on guns in our nation's capitol. I wanted to shout from the treetops but had no internet access with which to do so. AT&T did rush the new aircard out to me, once they determined I qualified under warranty. So you will see some new posts before Monday...while everyone else is outside drinking lemon aid and roasting weenies.
