It's a time of reconciliation. Make the most of it. Make Christ a part of your life. You'll never regret it if you do, and you will if you don't. Happy Easter!
"The age of casual Catholicism is over; the age of heroic Catholicism has begun. We can no longer be Catholics by accident, but instead must be Catholics by CONVICTION." ---Fr. Terrence Henry TOR, Franciscan University of Steubenville

New Pope is a surprise, but shouldn't be one.
He was runner-up to Cardinal Ratzinger in the previous conclave and bowed out in the final vote in favor of the German Cardinal.
There was no clear front-runner in this conclave, so it makes sense that an older Cardinal was chosen allowing for a shorter Papal term, giving the younger Cardinals a chance to become more seasoned before the next conclave.
Communism and socialism have taken a new foothold in Latin America, and Communism is the antithesis of Catholicism in practice. Communism does not share power with anyone, especially the Catholic Church. A Pope from Latin America could sway the pendulum the other way.
Latin America has the largest concentration of Catholics in the world.
Pope Francis is conservative on Church teaching and strongly in favor of social justice (including a strong stand against abortion).
Our new Pope is in many ways a continuation of John Paul II and Benedict XVI, and a very solid choice.
God Bless Our New Pope!!!
