I thought it might be a good time to lighten things up a little and post one of the few cartoons that still makes me laugh (for no other reason than the mere style of it)---The Three Little Bops!
The top one is in the original English, while the bottom one is for our Latino immigrants who yearn for something more from TV than Mexican soap operas and Menudo concerts.

Yo, Daddyo! You have to do what to play well? What kind of message is that for the kids, pop?
ReplyDeleteAll these years I thought it was rock 'n roll music that was corrupting our "yutes," but now I know it was those porcine jazz musicians.
ReplyDeleteYou are correct, though. It does send the very young down the wrong path. But this was made in the days when we thought we had little to worry about, culturally and morally speaking. Look at other Warner Bros. Cartoons with their violence and cross-dressing. Bugs Bunny sent a few generations of idenity-confused children into homosexuality, while Elmer Fudd helped create a "gun-crazed" nation of wabbit-killers.
Lord have mercy!
Lends credence to the Catholic belief of the existance of Purgatory, except that such a place is for being purified of venial sins if no mortal ones stain the soul. And huffing, puffing, and blowing down legitimate business establishments even with a musical instrument sounds like a mortal sin to me. Looks like Warners didn't do their homework before leading a whole generation of impressionable children to sin.
