Obama "Stood Up" Wounded Troops For A Workout At Hotel

According to the Washington Post, Obama said the following on the plane bound for Berlin:

"You know I really get a kick out of spending time with the troops. Their morale is high, but they really appreciate acknowledgement of what they're doing," .

In addition to his speech at the Brandenburg Gate, Obama was scheduled to visit wounded troops recuperating at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center, but blew it off when it was realized a campaign staffer would not be allowed to attend. Obama could have gone anyway, but decided to stay at his hotel (The Ritz Carlton) and work out. What a guy!

If Obama is going to be Commander-In-Chief, he had better get his priorities straight. First he refuses to debate McCain at a townhall meeting in front of military personnel and now this. It is becoming clear that Obama wishes to spend as little time as possible in front of military people for fear someone might actually ask a pressing question, like why did you vote against funding us and want to pull us out before the job was done? And why won't you admit to the mistake?

Don't expect the MSM to pick up on this. The following exchange was reported by ABC News, surprisingly:

A reporter noted that the campaign has been distributing fliers to Berliners to drum up attendance.

"Why don't you guys go out and distribute some fliers?" Obama asked. "Is that a conflict for you guys?"

Joked a cable news correspondent: "We have been. It's called television."

They know they're in the tank for Obama if they admit it to each other, even jokingly.

  1. I think the real reason behind his cancellation was that the military wouldn't allow photographers to accompany Obamination into the troop hospital. No photo op, why bother?

  2. Welcome back, Matt!

I agree with kevin. The Obama campaign's first response to this flap was to claim that the Pentagon cancelled his visit. Then, when the Pentagon noted it had only forbidden the presence of campaign staff and photogs (Barrack was welcome as a Senator from Illinois, but not as a campaigner for political office), the BO campaign started tap dancing in its PR. This guy is all style, no substance; all rhetoric, no record; and I pray the common-sense American voter gets it right in November.
